T.J BROWN
By Kayla Rollison
A shot
Maybe not heard around the world
But felt by the hearts of those who loved
Those who loved his sincere smile
Those who loved his innocent eyes
And those who heard his rescue cries
Rescue from fear
Rescue from hopelessness
A life gone wrong too rapidly
The knowledge becoming a strategy
A spirit wasted
Wasted by war and hunger
War for power and respect
Hunger for that which he did not have
His dream
Our nightmare
Both terminated
Terminated by ignorance
By consequences unconsidered
An unnecessary end to a game
A game played by unrelenting players
Players of life
No more than a deity's pawns
Dying hope
Dying dreams
A dying soul
Pointless screams
Too late
Past due
Too tardy to save
No time to restore
Oceans of love-shed tears
Confirmation for the fear
Fear of loosing
Fear of unknown answers
To questions we ask
No future for a past repeating
A recent discovery
Of a treasure soon lost
Denial
Realization
Without the ability to except
Expectance
To see innocence and sincerity
To hear pure joy and reassurance
To feel sheltered and accompanied
Still loving
The soul gone missing
With all the pieces of my heart
Very unique rhythm, but it flows well. I especially like the one-word lines. You use very good descriptive language. Quite emotional.
